ALL I NEED

I don’t care for drinking all night
don’t need new clothes that hang just right
I don’t need sunny spaces in lands afar
I don’t even need me a cadillac car

I don’t care for running around
don’t need to be toast of the town
I don't need pretty faces make me feel good
I don’t even need me a home but I should

All I need is someone to hold me tight
I’m unconcerned if it’s day or night
I don’t care if the stocks are not right
I only want someone to hold me tonight
All I need is someone to hold me tonight

I don’t care if it snows or hails
don’t need real-cute manicured nails
I don’t need cheating  women telling me lies
I don’t even need me a pie in the sky

I don’t care when the sun don’t shine
don’t need a compass to tell time
I don’t need a reverend to tell my tale to
I don’t even need a reason to be cruel

All I need is someone to hold me tight
I’m unconcerned if it’s day or night
I don’t care if the stock’s are not right
I only want someone to hold me tonight
All I need is someone to hold me tonight

WHERE THE WIND AND RAIN GO

When I am sad and have nowhere to go
When the faces passing by are all strange
When I seek and can’t find one that I know
That’s when I go where the wind and rain flow

The wind is dancing on the river see
going where only wind and rain can be
traveling the compass in every which way
Spinning ever, where it wants, ‘cause it’s free
Wind oh wind, oh changing wind
Rain oh rain, oh pounding rain
Pushing shoving blinding wind
Cleanse my soul of this awful pain
As I stand and scream at the falling rain

Now the spiky river is back again
kicking up pointy little white tops see
It is the wind dancing on the water
Reaching where only wind and rain can be

Down by the river I hear the wind blow
It whistles it sings it calls out my name
I will be going where wind and rain go
My life will forever—not be the same
Wind oh wind, oh changing wind
Rain oh rain, oh pounding rain
Pushing shoving blinding wind
Wash my soul of this awful pain
As I stand and sing with the falling rain

SAD EYES

Our dreams are like ashes they blow in the breeze
We chase after quickly with one life to leave
I know you from somewhere your smile has no schemes
It sure wasn’t heaven it must be my dreams
Perhaps a warm morning so golden and fine
Did I stumble to you all drunken and blind
Did you stretch out your arms to take me inside
Did you give me your love and then let me hide
The hard ways of this world are wicked and wise
And all of its sadness lies deep in your eyes
Did I come to you screaming out of the night
Did you quiet my crying make it all right
Ideas are like pictures that hang up to float
We watch them go by as they go up in smoke
Did I take it for granted your love to keep
When you wiped my brow and then rocked me to sleep
The tattered hand of winter smacks at my cheek
The wind-swept snow covers up my frozen feet
Will I see you again like birds from the south
Will I see your sad eyes or kiss your warm mouth

Sad eyes my mind keeps trying
Sad eyes my heart keeps dying

Biography:  I’ve been a doorman, exterminator, taxi driver, truck driver, construction worker, actor, model, astrologer, antique store owner and a seller of rare books from 1993 until 2013 when we retired and moved to San Antonio.  I was born and raised in New York City and have been writing songs and poetry since I was 15. The city has always been my pain, joy, confusion, stability and my inspiration.  My first book “Time On Hand”  was publisher in October of 2014 and collects 80 songs and poems and 16 vintage photographs. I have written a screenplay titled New York City Song with 17 original songs—which rests in my closet. In 199i I had a showing my two-act play in an off, off Broadway Theater. I am working a memoir about growing up in New York City
